The Problem:
PFAS, or "forever chemicals," are synthetic substances used in various consumer & industrial products, from non-stick pans to firefighting foam. Studies suggest PFAS exists in detectable levels in 83% of U.S. waterways and 97% of Americans’ blood, and has links to cancer, immune disruption, and developmental delays.
The Solution:
Invicta is building scalable system to remove and destroy PFAS from water with no waste. Its system uses a combination of “proprietary filtration crystals” and UV light to 1) filter out PFAS from contaminated water and 2) breaks down the molecular bonds holding PFAS together.
The Team:
Invicta’s 4-person team is small but mighty. The founders bring backgrounds in materials science and decades of experience building nano-technologies in the defense and manufacturing spaces. The entire team is entrepreneurial at heart, with dozens of inventions and patents issued between them.
Traction:
Shown early promise in laboratory tests
Planning first pilot at a North Carolina wastewater treatment plant
Cooperative Research & Development Agreement with US Navy
Discussing potential contracts with municipalities & industrial producers
