Weak vs. Strong Attractors

(And the power of Doriot's Education Programs)

Delivered December 20 @ 5:00pm ET 🎄

Happy Friday everyone and Happy Holidays! My name is Gerry Hays, and I’m the Founder of Doriot.

I’m actively in the venture game as a Founder/CEO, investor, researcher, inventor, author, game designer, and professor. I’ve built companies and developed a global venture portfolio entirely from the great state of Indiana, all while teaching over 6,000 undergraduates and MBAs at Indiana University, as well as in Croatia, Hong Kong, Slovenia, and Singapore.

I’m devoting the rest of my career to bringing a new system of venture capital to market — one designed for a new type of entrepreneur and investor. The current system, built around elite schools and concentrated wealth, excludes the masses from participating in the game of venture, which ultimately harms capitalism. It’s time for a new system of venture capital based on a different set of principles and priorities.

If you’re enjoying this newsletter and think others in your network would too, I’d be grateful if you forwarded it along and encourage them to subscribe. And, with 10 referred subscribers, I’ll autograph a copy of my first book, the First-time Founder’s Equity Bible and ship it to you!

I’m taking a much needed break! 🎄 đźŽ‰

I’m taking a few weeks off to gear up for what I expect to be a pivotal 2025. It’s either going to be very big — or nothing at all. Each of you will play a crucial role on the front lines, helping determine the future of Doriot.

I’ve been hinting, nudging, and forecasting what’s ahead, and now it’s time to put the market to the test. Early in 2025, everyone will have the chance to say, 'I’m in' or 'I’m out.' If we get enough 'I’m in’s,' we’ll set out to forever change the Venture Capital markets, tilting opportunities in our favor of millions of aspiring millionaires.

The future is ours to shape.

Thus, for those who are new to Democratize Venture, here’s some of my most recent posts that provide glimpses at the future:

Venture Alchemy: Weak vs. Strong Attractors

“All of the Great Teachers throughout the history of our species have merely taught one thing, over & over, in whatever language, at whatever time. All have said, simply: Give up weak attractors for strong attractors”

David Hawkins - Author of Power vs. Force

This quote, by Dr. David Hawkins, author of Power vs. Force, suggests that the only thing we truly need to do is let go of the things that hold us back (weak attractors) and turn our focus to the things that propel us forward (strong attractors). At our deepest core, we are vibrational beings, constantly emitting signals — both consciously and unconsciously — that shape our experiences.

If we look around and love what we see, it’s a sign that we’re on the right path. But if we’re dissatisfied or feel anxious and depressed, it’s time to start letting go of weak attractors and focus on the strong ones.

Dr. Hawkins explains this through his Map of Consciousness. While the concept is simple to understand, it’s incredibly challenging to put into practice.

The Weak Attractors
These include shame, guilt, apathy, grief, and fear — the lowest levels of vibrational energy. Slightly higher are desire, anger, and pride, but as a group, all of these are still considered weak attractors. For instance, even pride, the highest of the weak attractors, keeps you in a state of judgment because it centers the world around yourself. Every other weak attractor below pride similarly revolves around self-centeredness, creating dimly lit energy that others may tolerate only if it satisfies their own weak attractors.

The Strong Attractors
Above pride lies what Dr. Hawkins calls the "line of truth." Crossing this line takes us into the realm of strong attractors, beginning with courage, then neutrality, willingness, acceptance, reason, joy, and ultimately love.

To focus on strong attractors, we must give up the idea that we are the center of the universe and instead recognize our inherent connection with others. This understanding taps into a profound source of power through unity and connection, culminating in a state of elevated being. It’s not about money or possessions but about how you choose to feel internally.

This is alchemy at its finest: the transformation of our internal state to operate from a place of genuine power and connection, rising above self-centeredness to achieve a life of true fulfillment and wealth.

The power of Doriot's Education Programs

The one question I’ve been asked over and over again is, “Why would young people want to get involved with Doriot? What’s the value proposition?” That’s a legitimate question and one I deeply wish I could answer in just a sentence or two. We’re getting closer, but it still needs refinement.

What I can give you, however, is evidence of what happens when a young person commits herself to embracing the educational tools and platforms we are teaching at Doriot. You see, I eat my own dog food. I use Doriot’s tools in the classroom because I know that when combined, they can prepare anyone for success in Venture:

  1. The Qualified Accredited Investor Certification Program (QAI):
A six-week intensive curriculum designed to bring anyone into the top 20% of venture knowledge. It’s essential to understand the rules of the game — venture capital and private capital in general.

  2. The Venture Game:
A 10-hour immersive simulation that places participants in roles such as Founder, Co-Founder, Angel Investor, Series A Investor, Series B Investor, Acquirer, or Banker. Companies advance or fail, teams negotiate term sheets, and everyone works toward landing an exit. By the end of the simulation, participants often say it’s one of the best experiences of their lives.

  3. The Mental Game of Success:
Six hours of intense discussions on critical topics, including the psychology of money, mapping emotions to access higher levels of energy (see above), and understanding the difference between being a consumer and a cultivator. Aspiring to build wealth means learning to cultivate it — thinking, planning, planting, nurturing, and reaping over the long term.

So, how do I know it works? It’s when I receive unsolicited notes from students who just completed my Venture Capital and Entrepreneurial Finance Course, particularly young women who are often more reserved and skeptical about participating in the venture markets. (Something I hope will change, as women who do participate frequently outperform men as investors and entrepreneurs.)

What we are doing at Doriot to prepare young people for success in an increasingly uncertain world is special. Now imagine if these tools were distributed globally to high schools and universities, empowering professors worldwide. This isn’t just a multi-billion dollar market opportunity — it’s a transformative movement. It would reframe mindsets and provide a clear path for individuals to take personal agency and responsibility, enabling them to build lives where they are the Directors.

And when you add a new investing platform tailored to their time and financial constraints, while putting them into the game of venture, you create an entirely new system of venture capital — one that’s globally networked and built on a fresh set of principles. Principles that hone Imagination, Strategy, and Action.

These products have been rigorously tested in the classroom, some for over a decade. Each is scalable, with proven Product-Market Fit, as evidenced by the lives we are transforming for the better. Now, it’s simply a matter of distributing them across the globe.
